Euromix™ Lightweight High Build Render

Euromix™ LWHB (Lightweight, High Build) Render is a lightweight dry mix, full polymer, cement-based render formulated for use where a high build finish is required. Euromix™ LWHB can be applied over most masonry and sheet and panel substrates, like, autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC), expanded polystyrene (EPS) and fibre cement (FC). Euromix™ LWHB Render is mixed with water only (NO added Bond required).

Euromix™ LWHB Render uses special lightweight fillers instead of polystyrene beads, allowing a smoother finish to be achieved.

General Direction For Use

Ensure that all elements to be rendered have been constructed and fixed in accordance with the project plans / specifications and the substrate manufacturer’s recommendations. The substrate should be dry and free of any material that may affect the ability of the Euromix™ LWHB Render to adhere to the surface (dirt, dust, mould oils, loose friable material, etc.).

Mask or otherwise protect adjacent building elements and areas (windows, doors, roof coverings, paving etc.) against inadvertent coating with render. Polymer modified renders are very difficult to remove once cured and can cause staining of certain materials.

Mixing the Render

Euromix™ High Build Render‘s polymer content is designed to enable the render to be mixed using water only. The required volume of clean, potable water should be poured into a mixing bucket. Then, steadily add the Euromix™ LWHB Render powder to the water while mixing it using a suitable drill (or traditional concrete mixer), until it is smooth and lump free - this normally takes 3 to 4 minutes.

Allow the wet render to ‘stand’ for 3 minutes after first mixing, then remix to achieve consistent slurry. The render is now ready for application. One 15 Kg bag of Euromix™ LWHB Render requires @ 5 litres of water in mixing.

Typical Application Method

Apply a first coat of Euromix™ LWHB Render to the desired thickness with a hawk & trowel. Maximum coat thickness is 10mm – thicker finishes can be achieved in multiple layers – after allowing each layer to dry properly. Use a straight edge to achieve a true and level finish. Once the final coat of Euromix™ LWHB Render has dried (at least 24 hours in normal conditions), prepare a topping coat of Euromix™ Skim Render with a solution of 1 part Bond to 19 parts waters, then apply this to a nominal thickness of 2mm using a trowel and straight edge to achieve a true and level finish.

For a flat smooth finish (ready for painting or the application of an acrylic texture coating), use a polystyrene, wood or plastic float. For a textured render (ready for painting), use a suitable sponge float to bring the sand grains to the surface.

Curing

Rapid drying of the surface can cause cracking and result in a low strength / friable render. Do not apply Euromix™ Renders when conditions will be above 35ºC, especially if windy, nor where the temperature is below 5ºC or where the chill factor is high. Ensure that the curing render is protected from rain, extreme frosts and other sources of excess moisture (e.g.; overflowing gutters and down pipes). The drying times quoted below are for normal weather conditions, at 25ºC and 50% RH.

Surface dry

Four (4) hours.

Recoat with render

One (1) day.

Applying Texture Coating

Three (3) days.

Applying Paint

Three (3) days for acrylic paints. Twenty-one (21) days for oil / alkyd based paints.
